Reflecting on my everyday experiences, I take on the roll of an inventor, creating utilitarian responses to necessity in my own life. I am interested in function and how objects can be helpful, often setting up situations in order to problem solve. Fascinated by the contrast between slow and fast methods of production, I investigate textile languages embedded in basket making, felting, and hand sewing. Responding to place, for material sourcing and culture makes my art practice feel rooted in history. This connection to my immediate resources, whether it be foraging for my own plants or cleaning the fleece used for the creation of felted pieces establishes a deeper connection to the entire process and my immediate environment.
